British Columbia Pipers’ Association adjudicator Gordon “Gord” MacRae passed away on July 25, 2022 following a long battle with cancer.

Gord was a founding member of the 78th Fraser Highlanders Pipe Band and a member of their 1987 Grade 1 World Pipe Band Championship winning band. He was also a prize-winning professional piper on the Ontario circuit.

In the early 2000’s, Gord and his family moved west to BC. He played with the Simon Fraser University and Dowco Triumph Street Pipe Band’s as well as piping for his snare drumming son Gavin through his ascent through all the grades.

Gord became a senior BCPA adjudicator, adjudicating solo and band events and mentoring apprentice adjudicators.

During his battle with cancer, Gord continued to adjudicate, up until the February 2022 BCPA Online Mini-Gathering.

BCPA expresses its sincere condolences to Gord’s family during their time of grief and sadness.
