“Give me my pipe” – It comes from the Gaelic Poem “Big Roderick’s Lament”

Cumha Ruairidh Mhóir
Tog orm mo phìob is théid mi dhachaidh,
Is duilich leam fhéin, mo léir mar thachair;
Tog orm mo phìob ‘s mì air mo chràdh
Mu Ruairidh Mór, mu Ruairidh Mór.
Tog orm mo phìob, tha mi sgìth,
Is mur faigh mi ì théid mi dhachaidh;
Tog orm mo phìob, tha mi sgith
Is mì air mo chràdh mu Ruairidh Mór.
Tog orm mo phìob, tha mi sgìth,
Is mur faigh mi ì théid mi dhachaidh;
Clàrsach no pìob cha tog mo crìdh
Cha bheò fear mo gràidh, Ruairidh Mór..
Big Roderick’s Lament
Give me my pipe and I’ll go home,
It is sad for me as to how it happened;
Give me my pipe I’m so broken hearted
About Big Roderick, about Big Roderick.
Give me my pipe, I am tired
If I do not get it I’ll go home;
Give me my pipe, I am tired,
I’m broken hearted about Big Roderick.
Give me my pipe, I am tired
If I do not get it, I’ll go home;
Harp or pipe won’t lift my heart,
My loved one is dead, Big Roderick..
