We hope you have enjoyed the programs and services the BCPA provides. We also hope that you will renew your membership to continue supporting the activities that have made the BCPA one of the most respected and progressive piping, drumming and pipe band associations in the world.

Your membership provides the British Columbia Pipers’ Association the funds to:

• Provide accredited qualified adjudicators for all competitions
• Help provide learning opportunities for both bagpipers and bagpipe band drummers.
• Help provide bursaries, and travel prize money
• Provide a platform for event entry
• Provide software for event results
• Our hope is to be able to provide additional workshops and education opportunities

Existing Members

NOTE: If you are an existing member, log in using your existing membership account, then click your name in the top right corner to get an option to renew your membership for 2025-26.

After October 1st each year, the renewal options will be presented automatically.

If you have an existing membership and you want to update the email address for your membership, please login using your current email address and then in the Profile change it to your new email address.

Please do not create a whole new membership just to change an email address as BCPA’s Wild Apricot support personnel then have to manually merge your existing and new membership records to avoid duplicate records.

Membership Categories for 2025

• Active (Playing) – A person 18 years and older who is actively playing or formerly played the great Highland Bagpipes, Pipe Band Snare Drums, Tenor Drums or Bass Drum.
• Active (Non-playing) – A person who does not currently nor in the past played the great Highland Bagpipes, Pipe Band Snare Drums, Tenor Drums or Bass Drum
• Junior – A person under the age of 18 as of Oct 1 of the current year who plays the great Highland Bagpipes, Pipe Band Snare Drums, Tenor Drums or Bass Drum.
• Family – Up to 8 members of a family residing in a single household. Family memberships can contain Active playing, Active Non-Playing, and Junior memberships
• Pipe Band – Band roster is required at the time of the band membership application
• Highland Games – Organizer of a BCPA Sanctioned Highland Games

Pipe Band Roster (Initial Roster Due – 1 March 2026)

BCPA Pipe Band Roster Form 2025/26

Bands are required to use the BCPA Pipe Band Roster Form which must be signed by the appropriate band official. Submitted information not in this format will not be accepted.

Note that an additional BCPA-RSPBA Supplemental Roster form must be completed by BCPA region bands which will be competing in competitions in the United Kingdom. This form must be submitted to BCPA and RSPBA at least two months before the band’s first competition of the season in the UK and each time band personnel changes (the RSPBA’s new 42 day Add/Transfer rule applying for Higher Grade to Lower Grade player transfers and otherwise the 14 day Add/Transfer rule applying). Per BCPA Pipe Band Competition Rules, band rosters must be submitted to BCPA by March 1 each year and are to only include playing members (see the Band Registration & Roster form for more details). If new players are added or existing players removed during the season, an updated roster must be provided using the above form along with a completed Release/Transfer/Add Member form below. Note that proof of a player’s release from a band outside the BCPA jurisdiction of BC, Washington, and Oregon is not required.

Transfers between bands within BCPA must use the Release/Transfer/Add Member form. Both the releasing and the gaining bands must provide updated rosters to BCPA. Some BCPA sanctioned Highland Games have commented on what appears to be “padding” of rosters to obtain additional admission passes. If this happens, bands could be charged admission by the Games organizers for members on the roster who do not compete.

The Pipe Band Member Release/Transfer/Add form was revised slightly in 2019 to clarify some information. The form reinforces that the releasing band and the gaining band are both required to submit the Release/Transfer/Add form and an updated Pipe Band Roster form to the BCPA Membership Leader.

BCPA Membership FAQ

• What do I get for my membership?
  • As a member you are entitled to waive the non-member fee at competitions and other BCPA events. The non-member fee is currently $30 CAD paid at each highland game or BCPA competition where you compete. If you are an active member you can attend and vote at the BCPA AGM and you can stand for a position on the board.
• My band has a BCPA Membership do I need to have one as well?
  • Yes the band membership allows the band to compete but does not include individual members. If you are competing as a solo player you would be required to pay the non-member fee if you do not have a membership.
• Do I have to compete to have a membership?
  • No, you can have either an active playing or active non-playing membership depending on your participation in the bagpipe world. Anyone interested in bagpiping and drumming can become an active non-playing member.
• How does the board decide whether I am an active member?
  • The information you provide is the basis of the decision by the board. If you are an active competing player or a player with a competitive band you will be designated an active member.
• Do all members have a right to vote at the AGM and for board members?
  • All members 18 years and older have a vote. Active playing members 18 years and older may serve on the board.
