British Columbia Pipers’ Association – Spring Update from the President
Dear Members, Competitors, and Supporters,
On behalf of the BC Pipers Board of Directors, I am pleased to share that we are well underway with our spring season. We’ve already had some incredible events, including a fantastic Pacific Rim Drumming Championship and an outstanding Boney Memorial Invitational. The sponsorship, support, and enthusiasm from our membership, competitors, adjudicators, and volunteers were truly spectacular. We sincerely appreciate your dedication and support in making these events so successful.
Looking ahead, we are preparing for the BC Pipers’ Association’s 92nd Annual Gathering fast approaching. Planning is well underway, and we encourage all competitors—soloists and bands alike—to get their entries in as soon as possible before the closing date. This event is always a highlight of our year, bringing our community together with the universal and international language of music uniting us all.
We are thrilled to welcome adjudicators from across Canada and an international competitor entry list, promising a high level of competition and camaraderie. We have some spectacular awards and prizes again this season from a host of generous sponsors. A special award this year is being introduced – “Best Dressed Competitor of the AG” so polish your brogues, press your tartan and shine your instruments and put your “best dressed” foot forward!
This year’s Gathering will also celebrate two major historical milestones for BC’s pipe band community:

  • 45 years since the Vancouver Ladies Pipe Band won the Grade 3 World Championships
  • 30 years since the Simon Fraser University Pipe Band won the Grade 1 World Championships

Look for special articles and photographs in the program commemorating these achievements, and join us in recognizing the members of these legendary bands as we gather for a reunion and celebration.

What better way to spend Easter weekend than with family, friends, and your piping and drumming community! We can’t wait to see you all there for a weekend filled with competition, music, and connection.

A huge thank you to our Board of Directors, event organizers, and all the volunteers working behind the scenes to bring this year’s Gathering to life. Your efforts are truly appreciated, and we know it’s going to be a spectacular event.

See you soon!

David Hilder – President, British Columbia Pipers’ Association
