The board of directors of the British Columbia Pipers’ Association has waived rule number 2.2 in the British Columbia Pipers’ Association Rules for Pipe Band Competitions for the 2023 competition season.

Rule 2.2.1 stipulates the minimum number of players required for a pipe band to compete at BCPA sanctioned events. This includes pipers and drummers.

This is the second year in a row the board has decided to waive this rule. The board says many pipe bands continue to struggle with membership and attendance following the global pandemic and waiving the rule allows bands to continue to compete while they rebuild.
