| Message from the President of BCPA BCPA United without Borders March 1st, 2025 Dear Members and Friends, I hope this message finds you well and enjoying your journey in music, whether as a performer, competitor, student, or supporter. As we reflect on our shared passion for piping, drumming, and Highland music, I am reminded of the deep sense of community that binds us together in British Columbia, Washington State, as well as Oregon State. Music is a universal language—one without borders, barriers, or limitations. It transcends cultures and backgrounds, connecting us in a way that few other things can. Whether we gather at competitions, ceilidhs, dinners, or simply sharing tunes, we are part of something greater than ourselves: a tradition that celebrates lifelong learning, camaraderie, and respect. Community. At the heart of the BC Pipers Association is a simple but powerful belief—that kindness, kind words, and supportive actions toward our fellow musicians and humans enrich not only our music but our lives. It is this ethos that drives me each day, and I see it reflected in the way we support one another, mentoring new players, cheering each other on, and sharing in both victories and challenges. I encourage us all to keep this in mind, especially during times when it’s easy to lose sight of what unites us. Together, we are stronger as a community. The BC Pipers’ Association has proudly carried out this tradition of community for 93 years, and I have no doubt that it will thrive for many more. That legacy is not built on competition results or individual achievements alone, but on the strength of our community—the friendships, the shared experiences, and the deep respect we hold for one another. Thank you for being a part of this journey. Your dedication ensures that this great tradition will continue to inspire generations to come. Let’s keep learning, playing, and supporting each other, bound by the music that unites us all. Yours in piping, David Hilder, President British Columbia Pipers’ Association |
