Message from the  BCPA Board To the BCPA Membership, We are saddened to share that the Portland Highland Games will not be taking place in 2025 and, as such, will not appear on our competition calendar this season. The BCPA board and community value the long-standing contribution of the Portland Games to our circuit and will be watching closely for any events that may be offered in its place. We will ensure our members are informed as soon as any updates become available. We look forward to welcoming the Portland Highland Games back to the calendar in the future and thank you for your continued support. Sincerely, The BCPA Board

April 7, 2025

Dear Friends of the Portland Highland Games,

It is with a heavy heart that we announce there will be no Portland Highland Games for 2025. Recovery from COVID has posed challenges that we have been unable to overcome, within and without our organization, the largest being the year-over-year increasing expenses across the board to host a traditional Scottish Highland Event.

The board has been particularly quiet over the past few months as we scrutinized the budget and investigated possible paths forward. Through this process, we determined that if we proceeded, there was a serious risk of this being the last Portland Highland Games. We anticipate fundraising events to ensure the future of the Games.

We’re using this year as an opportunity to restructure and reevaluate our expenses to better align the Games to meet the future needs and expectations of the competitors, vendors, participants, entertainers, and attendees. We are investigating all variables available to align the vision of the Portland Highland Games to create a better experience for future Games, including changing dates and venue, etc. This is a very complex process as we coordinate across all the different competitive organizations and participants.

While we are not holding Games this year, we are considering holding smaller competitions for the different competitive events spread out throughout the year to support our competitors.

We will make every effort to keep everyone updated through the website and our social media outlets on upcoming developments.

The PHGA Board of Trustees remains committed to bringing Scottish Highland traditions to the Pacific Northwest.
