The 2025 Boney Music Memorial Invitational Competition & Recital was a very special night of great music, performances, and camaraderie fundraising in memory of Andrew Bonar. The evening emceed by B.C.P.A. President, David Hilder, started with a presentation by Joanna Ng, from the B.C. Cancer Foundation. She shared information on the in roads being made in Brain Cancer Research. She also emphasized how important events like the Boney Music Memorial are vital in raising funds and awareness for the Foundation and continuing their important work.

Recital performances of piping from Andrew’s nephew Evan Jamieson and dancing from his daughter, Kate Bonar and niece, Lauren Jamieson was an enjoyable start to the night.

Every year the competitors really set the bar high with their performances, and this year was no exception. The quality and high level that Nick Hudson, Houston Texas, Craig Sutherland, Scotland (now Vancouver), Zephan Knichel, Lynwood WA, and Cameron Bonar, Surrey BC. was appreciated by the enthusiastic audiences at the Seaforth Armoury and those watching the Livestream. In addition, this year each performance has been posted to the B.C.P.A. YouTube channel. This year Cameron Bonar was declared the Winner, with Craig Sutherland second, followed by Nick Hudson, and Zephan Knichel.

This event was very successful in fundraising in memory of Andrew, for Brain Cancer Research and to replenish the Boney Music Memorial Fund. Currently, the funds raised are $7155 for the B.C. Cancer Foundation and $1600 for Boney Music. Both links will remain open for the next few weeks for those still wishing to donate.
