The BC Pipers’ Association is proud to announce that the 2022 Boney Music Memorial Invitational Competition and Recital is back this year, live, on Saturday May 14, 2022, and everyone is invited.

Zephan has been a grade one band player since 2003. He formerly played with Alberta Caledonia and is currently in his eighth season with the SFU Pipe Band. Before Covid struck, Zephan was an active soloist in North America and Scotland and was the runner up for the BCPA Open Piping Aggregate award in 2019.

Zephan dedicates a great deal of his time to teaching. He has been an instructor with the RMM Pipe Band since 2015 and currently teaches their grade 3 band. He spends most of his evenings teaching private lessons and is a regular instructor at Jack Lee’s Piping Hot Summer Drummer school. When he is not playing or teaching pipes, Zephan spends his days as a pipe-bag maker for Lee and Sons Bagpipes.

This event celebrates the memory of Andrew Bonar, a great BC piper, while raising funds, in his name, for brain cancer research in BC. Join the BCPA at the Scottish Cultural Centre in Vancouver for this social event, open to all. This will be one of the first public gathering of pipers in almost two years.

This year’s participants will be Alan Bevan, Jori Chisholm, Gordon Conn, Zephan Knichel and Alastair Lee. There will be a special performance by Cameron Bonar.

Join us at the Scottish Cultural Centre, 8886 Hudson Street, Vancouver. Doors will open at 6:30 pm. Performances begin at 7:00 pm. Highland Dress is welcome. There will be a liquor service. Livestreaming will also be available on the BC Pipers’ Association Facebook page.

This event is free, however BCPA will be accepting donations online for the BC Cancer Foundation. Canadian charitable tax receipts will be issued for donations of $20 or more. Click HERE to donate.

Thank you for supporting the BC Pipers’ Association as we continue “Inspiring Piping to Conquer Cancer”.
