The BC Pipers’ Association is proud to announce that the 2022 Boney Music Memorial Invitational Competition and Recital is back this year, live, on Saturday May 14, 2022, and everyone is invited.

A native of Greenock, Scotland Gordon started playing bagpipes in the school system in Scotland. After emigrating to Calgary, Gordon went on to receive tuition from Ann Gray, and currently receives tuition from Alan Bevan. Gordon is a prize winner at the Argyllshire Gathering, the Northern Meeting, and The Scottish Piping Society of London contests. Gordon joined the SFU Pipe Band in the fall of 2008 and is looking forward to heading back to Scotland in August for band and solo contests.

Gordon counts Andrew Bonar as a major influence on his piping, and as a young player coming out to BC to compete Gordon was always struck by Boney’s competitiveness, consistency, and great sound.

This event celebrates the memory of Andrew Bonar, a great BC piper, while raising funds, in his name, for brain cancer research in BC. Join the BCPA at the Scottish Cultural Centre in Vancouver for this social event, open to all. This will be one of the first public gathering of pipers in almost two years.

This year’s participants will be Alan Bevan, Jori Chisholm, Gordon Conn, Zephan Knichel and Alastair Lee. There will be a special performance by Cameron Bonar.

Join us at the Scottish Cultural Centre, 8886 Hudson Street, Vancouver. Doors will open at 6:30 pm. Performances begin at 7:00 pm. Highland Dress is welcome. There will be a liquor service. Livestreaming will also be available on the BC Pipers’ Association Facebook page.

This event is free, however BCPA will be accepting donations online for the BC Cancer Foundation. Canadian charitable tax receipts will be issued for donations of $20 or more. Click HERE to donate.

Thank you for supporting the BC Pipers’ Association as we continue “Inspiring Piping to Conquer Cancer”.
