Piobaireachd Competition
Greetings, for the fifth year the B.C. Highland Games' piobaireachd competition will be held indoors.
With 15 pipers on the list it will be a full evening of the 'great music'. The venue is good - no more noise interference as is common on an open field.
Comfortable seating and good listening for the audience.
Put it on your calendar.
If you can't make the starting time of 5:00 PM, come later, the competition should take until about 10:00 P.M. to complete.
What: Open Piobaireachd Competition
Where: Evergreen Cultural Centre, 1205 Pinetree Way (next door to the Percy Perry Stadium (formerly the Coquitlam Town Centre Stadium).
Just scoot up the hill past the Coquitlam Shopping Centre; you will find it on the right-hand side.
When: Friday, June 27th, commencing at 5:00 PM
Tickets: $10.00 for adults; $6.00 for seniors and juniors
Parking: free and lots of it!
Other: Tickets are good next day for the Highland Games. If you have already purchased a Games ticket, it will get you into the piobaireachd competition.
In other words, the tickets cross over between the two events even though the tickets for the piobaireachd are $2.00 less than tickets for the Games .
Comment: This is a wonderful opportunity for Club members and non- members to come out in force to hear some outstanding piping.
Ron Sutherland is the organizer; Jack Lee will be Master of Ceremonies; Bob Woodley will be Steward; Ron MacLeod will be Timer
The Judge will be Peter Aumonier
Jack Lee will introduce the Judge and each piper. Also, he will make a few remarks about the background of each tune to be played.
